Joe Paterniti is an 11-year veteran firefighter and paramedic with the Everett Fire Department.  Joe is also a Reserve Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, and was placed on active duty for service in Iraq in March, 2003.

Joe safely returned home this month after serving six months in Iraq.  Joe is a Navy Corpsman, assigned to the United States Marines.  Joe served in a forward Battallion Aid Station supervising the other Navy Corpsmen.  During his time overseas Joe was primarily in Al Kut, Iraq, and had several instances where combat was close enough to "make me duck".
